Jon Joss is a senior retirement consulting actuary with Watson Wyatt's retirement practice in San Francisco. Working with clients in northern California, Jon serves as a consulting and technical resource for the region, and was the previous office practice leader.

Jon has experience in both pension and welfare plan work, in both domestic and international plans. His pension experience includes plan design, funding valuations, expense calculations under Financial Accounting Standards Board Statements #87 and #88, liability projections for long range planning and participant communications. His welfare experience involves health care cost analysis and projections and accounting under Financial Accounting Standards Board Statements #106 and #112. In addition, Jon is the retirement liaison working with our business development and account management staff, coordinating the client relationship development for retirement prospects and opportunities in the bay area and region. His international experience was recently enhanced having spent a year working in Watson Wyatt's Milan, Italy office. His clients have varied in sectors such as hospital organizations, religious affiliations, high technology companies, and general industry.

Prior to joining Watson Wyatt, Jon was a senior retirement consultant and actuary for 8 years with the San Francisco and Newport Beach offices of Hewitt Associates. Jon received his B.S. in chemistry from the University of Washington. Jon is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and an enrolled actuary.
